What is MT? It means MASKING TAPE la… now, it’s never the o-biang beige colour masking tape anymore.. look, how PRETTY it has become. Really.. I can’t help gazing at all the tapes.
After a successful run in Japan, Taiwan and Thailand, the MT Masking Tape Expo finally arrives in Singapore at the ION Art Gallery! MT, a big hit in Japan and around the world, is a Japanese masking tape made of washi paper that has strong and excellent adhesiveness, yet is thin and safe to be used easily without leaving traces behind.
These adhesive tapes come in a wealth of colors and patterns that cater to the taste of both adults and children. MT tapes are not just aesthetically beautiful, they also provide great functionality too, and can be used in all sorts of creative ways from scrap-booking to wrapping presents, and as quirky quick-fix to laminates on old furniture decorating entire wall spaces.
The last time we visited the ION Art Gallery was the Muji Exhibition, this time is for MT Masking Tape Expo. We were told they took 3 days to decorate the space and walls with masking tapes! Even the chairs were decorated!
Oh man, I want this wall~~~~~~~~~~~~
They have tapes for you to play and try out for fun! Here’s Pail & Mine, guess which is mine? Clue is, I named my MT Art “相逢”, how? Is it nice? ;p There are also gacha gacha machines, where you can stand a chance to win limited edition or regular tapes wrapped in a gacha-egg. Haha.. japanese love gacha eggs, don’t they?
You’ll be greeted by these paper balls! Very familiar looking because we used to play with them when we were young, but where got so pretty ones… 😀
Well, I went home with these tapes. Hahaa… can’t help it, I guess I’ll be back again for Singapore-themed limited edition MT tapes!! I love the Peranakan tiles design one!!
Oh, there’s another artsy exhibition at the basement B4 outside Muji, the annual NOISE art exhibition!
I took a few pix that I found interesting..
Last but not least, our late lunch today… ITACHO SUSHI!!
