on this day, i marry you..

Christmas eve of 2011, it was indeed a crazy day.. but, WE DID IT! Just how we wanted it to be.. 🙂

Early 4.30AM, the alarm went off and I opened my eyes as if I didn’t sleep at all, climbed outta bed steadily.. and made my bed… Hot Pink Quilt Covers, Tokidoki Pillow Cases, and White Sheets hidden under..

Woo… Ok, what’s the next thing on my rundown? Oh! morning calls to my sisters.. oh gawd.. why is my house still dark like nobody’s business? I was the only one up. 1 new message on WhatsApp. It’s Pail.. he’s updating me what’s going on at his place. So I better go knock on my dad’s door to quickly wake him up. Haa..

By the time the clock strikes 5.00AM, my family is all up… now it looks more like it. Glad my MUA is here on time with her assistant.. and soon, the photographer arrived too. My sisters got here one by one.. Joey.. and June… followed by Yan&Yun..

Hey, we can take some shots while waiting for the groom to arrive with his brothers! Just as how I’ve thought it would be, the atmosphere was pretty relaxed.. sitting around in my room with the sisters. I am so happy to have them all around me on this day. I would say Yun has done a great job as the “Fashion Consultant”! She did all the corsages for the brothers and sisters, and styled up each convertible dress perfectly. Such a true Libran!

Then, I was told, Dad has to come 披头沙 for me.. awwww… touching moment. I could see happiness in Dad’s eyes. “Nope, I can’t smudge my makeup…”, I managed to hold back my tears of joy.. then, then.. I heard noises from outside.. omg omg.. Pail is here!!!

BUT.. I heard voices saying they couldn’t come in.. Why? Cos Pail left the bridal hand bouquet in the fridge at home!!! LOL~~ Winson rushed back to get it for him while the rest of them got stuck outside. Ha! By right, there was no gate crash.. but like my Bro has said, Pail has just landed himself in one. We did a “room crash” instead.. LoL~ everyone was laughing and shouting.. and snapping candid shots.

Then came The Tea Ceremony.. I awkwardly called out “Mother, 喝茶” at Pail’s house.. I saw tears in her eyes too! My eyes got teary instantly.. but the same tot arises “Nope, I can’t smudge my makeup!” Hehee.. how do people start calling your in-laws “Father”, “Mother”? Pail and I still finding it awkward! =p

Anyway, more madness was awaiting for us at the hotel.. by now, as intended, I do not know what’s happening anymore. I headed straight for my 2nd makeup and hairdo in the suite. As I mentioned earlier, Pail resolved the projector display issue without alarming me, he probably knows I am going to get a panic attack and kill the hotel co-ordinator if I knew about it~ LOL~

Thankfully, everything managed to fall in place perfectly.. all thanks to The Great Awesome Entourage who did such a great job!! Oh btw, I really loved the Reception Xmas tree we D.I.Y-ed on our own!!! It was a random idea tat Tricia and I came up with, after brain-storming for an hour standing there one fine night weeks before the wedding.. How I wish I can smuggle the whole thing home~~ Kekekeke..

Then, it was our Solemnization that turned us on NERVOUS MODE.. Pail and I got soooooo nervous that our hands held as tightly as we could, but it didn’t stop us from trembling, haha… Our JP, Mr Zenon Teh did the greatest job of cracking all of us into laughter.. and yet solemnly exchanged our marriage vows, and saying “Yes, I Do”.

Relieved for a short while, but once we stood by the banquet door for our March-in, we both got so nervous again.. hahaha.. Funny. Marching in… we had to remind ourselves to walk slowly with the march-in music… but I remember to keep smiling, cos I could see and feel everyone sharing our joy.. but the true truth is? because I see many cameras shooting and snapping us! Haha..

Cut the Tiffany Blue wedding cake, and got seated at the V.I.P table with Pail’s family. We were pretty stressed out and uncomfortable sitting there with all the spotlights and attention on us.. I even slipped out to the washroom for a short break… =p

Still feelin nervous about our THANK YOU SPEECH that’s going to take place after the 3rd dish, we couldn’t eat even when we have the chance to do so. Haha.. when Pail was done with his, I thought he did such a great speech, my eyes were already teary by now, and it was my turn to speak. I looked for my family’s table and I saw Dad, and Bro.. and I thought of Mom, pretending that she was there, looking at me… and I could no longer hold back tears anymore…

Time simply flew past unconsciously after that.. but I still enjoyed our background music all the time. Simply loved the songs (entry blogged)! Haha.. and Odin&Yan were wonderful emcees too, even inserting Mayday songnames in their scripts.. lol.. that really surprised us! oh.. oh.. and our photo-taking session! It was slightly different from the norm, we wanted to take FAMILY SHOTS instead of TABLE SHOTS! Sorry if it turned out quite messy, but it was worth it! It’s been a long time since all of us have a real 全家福 all these years! Totally owing it to the Great Entourage again, especially XW who did a great job at herding .. Haha..

and next, before I know it, we were standing outside shaking hands with our guests, thanking them once again for sharing our joy on this day.

Almost concussed when we returned to our bridal suite, by now, my feet do not belong to me anymore.. but NO! Suki, you cannot sleep yet! We have the whole Entourage waiting for us to go over to their room after the whole event! Cos the hotel had offered us a night stay at the Bridal Suite and an extra room for them too. Everyone was so tired by now.. some even dozed off while waiting for us. Haha.. we ended the day with a great dinner at Kado Man (Paul’s Mom’s Japanese restaurant)

Pail and I could hardly think clearly any more, but it was still enjoyable reading all the hand-written greetings on the back of our Ang Baos, and summing up the amounts into our “Wedding Budget” spreadsheet.. Hohohoho.. 算钱就交给MICROSOFT EXCEL吧,我们头脑不清醒了~ But I am now thinking of coming up with TOP 10 Ang Bao Greetings we’ve received.. they are really quite creative and sweet!! =D

It’s now February of 2012 already, but this still sounds crazy to me.. I’m going to tick the “30 – 35” instead of “25 – 29” years old, and fill up “Married” instead of “Single” on the Marital Status field from now on. I am 30, and I’m married….. and I have a HUSBAND. 🙂
