Haha.. we had our pre-wedding photoshoot le! Really.. fun and unforgettable experience… but super tiring and shagged de lorrr….. Let me share our experience on with you, if you had gone through this, I hope my entry can recall your beautiful memories during your photoshoot back then! If you haven’t or are going to do it soon, this might serve as a good experience sharing for you! Hehee..
[1] First, find your photographer. This was one of the first thing I did for our wedding preparation in 2010.. haha.. Fortunately, Pail and I share the same sentiments on the typical bridal studio shoots and the recent very popular Taiwan overseas shoot, we do not like them. Haha~ this means I can start my lookout and research on photographers at ease! I now have on hand 10 – 20 photographers’ rate cards! Hahaa… Lightedpixels was in my mind since very long ago, so I first approached them. But… but frankly speaking, they are way above our budget lah.. then I was so glad to know about Lightedpixels Pixies!! If LightedPixels are the masters, Lightedpixels Pixies are their apprentice? Hehehe.. and most importantly, we loved their style too! We had the option to pick which pixie we prefer, and Ting’s shoot on her parents caught our attention totally. Ok, onz!
[2] Pick a “good” date, not about auspicious or not, but rather a date and timing where you can avoid the crowds and get good sun and not rain!! With that then u can proceed to [3] to check for her availability! So, our photoshoot was set. We prepared all our props, collected our wedding bands, gown and suit.. bought the wedding shoes… and also prepared our casual outfits.. I even went to do my manicure! Haha! So well-prepared, right? Alas!!!! our photographer sprained her ankle!! Ahhhhhhhh…. poor ting, we cancelled our leave and postponed the shoot to a week later lo… Aiyo… positively thinking, it’s ok la, one more week to feel more prepared, which we really did! =D
[3] Pick your MUA! I attended a trial makeup session at my studio.. but we weren’t too satisfied with the trial makeup look. So I decided to look for my own MUA.. Heh.. through some introductions and recommendations, I decided on Jacqueline Law. Gosh.. it wasn’t an easy task getting Jacq as my MUA, from Facebook to Whatsapp to SMS.. she was either out of town, or on assignments. We talked and discussed on the rates, and looks I preferred.. there was no trial makeup session, plainly judging from her portfolio pictures! By now, you should already come up with the locations of your shoot, your outfits and looks… props.. etc..
[4] The night before the shoot. Eat a light meal, and sleep early! Well, sleeping early was impossible for me la! Anyway, make sure all your shirts and outfits are all ironed and packed. We had a little cok-up at night, Pail’s shirt got char tar by the hot iron! Luckily his mom was quick enough to remove the stain in time. Phew~~~~ *sweatz* lah……….. Props and required stuffs like mosquito repellent, sitting mat, slippers for easy walking, cosmetics for the bride’s touch-up (now I learnt I should bring my own eyeliner and eyelash glue!), and any other props that you are going to use.. pack them all into bags clearly so that you know very well where to find them the next day. You know, you actually do not have much time to dig each bag on the actual day just to find a small thing.
Note: If you are driving, you might want to load all the stuffs into the car first, so that you can set off right away early in the morning next day. We had to wake up as early as 4am in the next morning to go for my makeup and hair at Jacq’s studio.
[5] Comes the actual photo shoot, most important thing is DO NOT FEEL TENSED! Photographer’s role comes in important here. She plays little little games with us, asking us random questions and capturing the most natural smiles on our face. Our shoot was split into 2 sessions, morning and afternoon. In between the sessions, we had some time to head home for a quick lunch and nap. Haha.. Pail’s mom was soo nice, cooking noodles for us while we can earn more time to rest.. even gave us bird nest to drink! Hehee… I actually concussed by lying on the sofa within a minute or two!
Oh last of all, let me share another secret with you, I teared during the shoot! Hahahahaa.. can’t imagine, right? At that very minute, I was glad I didn’t ask any friends along, else I might not be able to be myself so naturally! I was asked to think of 3 things what made Pail special to me, what he had done for me.. LoL~ The eye liner kinda smudged a lil’ bit.. and the right eye falsies came off a lil’ bit too! OMG!!! I think it’s also due to the hot weather that the glue melted… Duhz, I didn’t have any glue or eye liner with me leh… *lightning and thunder* I seriously hope I don’t look like an alien in the pictures! *Pray hard* Oh please, please, please…
Hmmm…. I think that’s about it, five points I can come up with!
If I can think of any more, will come back and add on! =p
